Here’s how it works in 4 simple steps:
- Apply by July 13 or earlier to attend ‘Our Time to Shine.’ Spread the word and get others to also apply!
- If accepted, attend the event on July 15, meet different political campaigns’ managers, and sign up on the spot at the event to start volunteering immediately for a political campaign of your choice
- Sign up at the event to start volunteering immediately with the campaign for a few hours per week starting immediately in July until late November, 2017.
- Join us at a post-election party on a weekend following Nov. 7, 2017 to celebrate and share what you learned during the election cycle. You’ll also learn how you can continue to volunteer/intern at political offices to ensure American Muslims have a voice in politics. We’ll also have a special event for those who complete at least 100 campaign volunteer hours, where we’ll provide them (or their children if they're not in school) with information to apply for up to $100,000 in scholarships. This is important because in addition to helping you gain experience, understand how media and politics work and get a "foot in the door" to a career in those fields, we also are giving you a chance to apply for scholarships to help you fund education that helps you advance toward a career in media/politics so that you can ensure our communities’ authentic perspectives are included at decision-making tables in these fields.
